Spacemilk is a game-changer in the world of protein. It belongs to a new category called “single-cell protein,” made from single-cell organisms—the most efficient and renewable sources of protein on Earth.
Our protein comes from non-GMO baker’s yeast, a member of the fungi family, like mushrooms. But unlike mushrooms, which are complex, baker’s yeast is a simple, single-celled organism that’s easy to grow. People have used baker’s yeast for thousands of years, but until now, it wasn’t used as a major protein source because its cell walls are hard for us to digest.
Thanks to new technology, we can now separate the protein from the yeast cell walls. With just water and electricity, we extract, wash, and purify the protein until it’s exceptionally clean and pure. It’s then pasteurized, dried, and packaged as Spacemilk.

Allergen Free
Spacemilk's protein is derived from non-GMO baker's yeast and is allergen free. To be extra clear, Spacemilk is: gluten free, dairy free, soy free, and free of all major allergens.
What about a yeast sensitivity?
1. While Spacemilk is made from yeast, all yeast cell wall material is fully broken down, filtered, and removed, leaving only protein, fats, and a tiny amount of flavor and aroma. This means it’s not like active or inactive yeast, so most people with yeast sensitivities should be fine. However, if you have specific concerns, check with your doctor first.
2. True allergies to baker’s yeast are extremely rare. Often, yeast sensitivities are actually reactions to molds or byproducts in fermented foods. Our process includes multiple rounds of washing and filtering, which would remove these byproducts (if any) to create an ultra-pure, allergen-free protein.
